UCF Lake Nona Medical Center is scheduled to open by the end of 2020, representing the future of medicine in Central Florida while delivering outstanding training for physicians. The teaching hospital, a joint venture between HCA Healthcare's North Florida Division and UCF Academic Health, is under construction adjacent to the UCF College of Medicine in Lake Nona's Medical City and will operate as a community-based teaching hospital. Facility plans include clinical research and a 21st century learning environment for medical students, future residents and fellows.
UCF Lake Nona Medical Center will open with 64 beds plus shelled space enabling expansion to 80 beds. The hospital is authorized to grow to 500 beds without further state approval. UCF Lake Nona Medical Center will feature a 20-bed emergency department, four operating rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, six delivery suites, comprehensive imaging and laboratory services and a destination café. Medical staff will include both UCF Health and private practice physicians in a full range of specialties including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, internal medicine, neurology, OB/GYN, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, urology and surgical subspecialists.
